It’s about your heart

While reading a devotional this morning, I read a scripture I’ve seen before but it hit me in a new way today. It brought to mind the power of pausing and the importance it has in God’s eyes.

As humans, we run to and fro trying to build lives that don’t fall apart beneath our feet. We try to grasp for higher positions at work, create the relationships we’ve always wanted, and become who we’d like to be as soon as possible.
As Christians we can sometimes come before the Lord bringing our heaviness, workload, and desire to grow quickly. In the following scripture, God instructs us to come before him with a clean heart and purified life.
“Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:23-24‬ ‭NIV‬‬
I love how the bible talks about how we should do our part. Romans 12:18 says, “If it is possible, as much as it depends on you, live peaceably with everyone.”
Bring your worries and the things that overwhelm your mind to God in prayer. Be aware that He also cares about a heart made pure through reconciliation and consideration of others.
“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.”

‭‭Philippians‬ ‭2:3-4‬ ‭NIV‬‬

We’re hosting Eve Within Conference for those who strive to find a balance between where they are and where they’d like to be in life. There is grace for your process and we believe it’s important to grow within the context of community. We hope to see you in March!
