We always dream of the future. We wish for better. We work for better. We yearn for more.
We just know for certain that at a later date, things will make sense. The joy we are looking for is surely on its way.
I believe those things to be true.
But recently, it hit me how often I can run the risk of zooming past the blessings in my life right now.
Today never gets the attention it deserves.
In fact, don’t we often hustle through “today?” We try to “make it through today.” So many people frequently say they’re “hanging in there.”
What if we began dreaming of today? Wishing to squeeze every ounce of good and mercy out of today. What if we began smiling about today– our tests, trials, victories, and everything in between?
After all, that’s all life is made up of. Your life will be made up of plenty of todays that you’ll either take for granted or savor.
Let’s choose to savor from now on. When things don’t seem to be going your way, let these words ring in your ears:
““So Samuel told him everything, hiding nothing from him. Then Eli said, “He is the Lord; let him do what is good in his eyes.””
1 Samuel 3:18 NIV
